This Mysteriously Deleted Video Suggests The Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Could Be Announced At The Game Awards

Update 7:41 p.m.: After discovering that the images used in the mysterious video were taken from an Unreal Engine 5 asset pack, it now appears that the video is a hoax.

While the origin of the story – or why – is unclear at this time, it’s best to assume it’s not true until Konami, Virtuos, or TGA confirm otherwise. The original story follows.

Original story: It looks like the long-rumored remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater could be announced at the upcoming The Game Awards.

The news comes from a now-deleted video that allegedly appeared on Chinese studio Virtuos’ YouTube channel earlier today.

However, you can never delete something faster than someone can save a copy. The Virtuos video – whether it was released intentionally or not – is now making the rounds, and Metal Gear fans are speculating that the remake may soon be officially confirmed.

Let’s play Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater – Late to the Party.

It seems that the teasing – which appears to be cleaned as quickly as it is reloaded – includes Morse code for the phrase “December 8, 1964”. December 8 is the date the awards are due to be released, while 1964 is the year Snake Eater is set (thanks, MP1er).

More interestingly, this strange video mess coincides with the recent release of a recruitment video in which Virtuos shares “a day in the life of Virtuos Montreal”. In the video, an artist can be seen with The Art of Metal Gear Solid shyly displayed to the side.

This all comes a year after a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 was first reported to be in the worksKonami would entrust the development to Virtuos Studios.

ICYMI, Actor Oscar Isaac has revealed he still ‘hopes’ the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid movie will happen.

In a recent interview about his upcoming graphic novel, Isaac was asked for an update on the film and kindly agreed, but without providing specific information on the progress of the film.

“We want this to happen,” Isaac said. “Get excited. What’s the script? What’s the story? What’s the take? […] But I hope it will come to fruition because there is so much potential for it.

“It’s an incredible game. It’s my favorite,” he confirmed.
