Microsoft has detailed the next set of Xbox homepage “experiences” coming to Insider testing this week, including new layouts, pinned groups, and more

These additions are the latest of what Microsoft previously described as a “multi-month series of experiments to learn how to create a more personalized home screen experience and meet some of the top trends and fan requests”.

The plan, he explained, is to iterate on these features as testing continues, with the goal of launching a “new and better Home experience” in 2023.

To that end, Microsoft has now rolled out its latest round of preview updates, starting with different homepage layouts. An assortment of these, each comprising user-chosen modules grouped in different ways, will be presented to different testers, and Microsoft is seeking feedback on favorites.

In addition, it will be possible to add higher groups and up to 10 individual games at home for easier access. Groups can be defined by going to My games & apps > Groups > Group name, while games can be added by highlighting a tile on the dashboard, pressing Menu, then selecting Add to welcome.

There’s also a new Watch & Listen spotlight for browsing and watching media, buttons next to entertainment apps that link to related collections in the store, and a list of select Xbox Game Pass and Microsoft Store titles at the using an algorithm for greater relevance to users.

All Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha Ring Insiders can preview the new Home experience this week, and those interested in future testing can become an Xbox Insider by downloading the Xbox Insider Center on their Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One.

As for what’s next, Microsoft says it will share details about customizable backgrounds “soon”.
