This afternoon, Activision’s long-awaited shooter Warzone 2.0 launched earlier than expected in some regions, in a shocking break from the tradition of the live service launching where everything is delayed by a few hours. We’re Watching You, Overwatch 2.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 It was supposed to launch at 10:00 a.m. PT on November 16, but it looks like some regions (New Zealand and Europe first, then the US) may have gotten access at least an hour earlier. To prepare for launch, players were able to pre-download Warzone 2.0 as of November 14 as a reasonably sized addition to Modern Warfare II. But as soon as Twitter started tweeting that battle royale was available early November 16, I ran to my Xbox Series S and fired it up.

Around 12:00 ET, all I had was a new smooth opening on boot Modern Warfare II who showed up Warzone 2.0the new Al Mazrah map, and two tabs on the main page for the Warzone 2.0 DMZ beta and Warzone 2.0. These two tabs were locked. But only 15 minutes later they became unlocked and playable. Much like in the original war zone, Modern Warfare II, the Warzone 2.0 DMZ beta, and Warzone 2.0 are their own sections in the main menu, with the latter currently only offering Battle Royale Quads as a playlist option. Keeping it simple, I see.

Considering so many live games launch with a myriad of issues such as delayed start times, server disconnects, and matchmaking issues, it’s honestly surprising that Warzone 2.0 was not just on time, but early – like that friend you can always count on to arrive at your party before everyone else with some kind of bite in hand.

So, war zone 2.0 is up and ready to go, though it’s unclear how well the servers will handle what will ostensibly be a massive influx of players. I’m loading a match right now, so stay tuned.
