You’ll need to find a Warzone 2 DMZ Stronghold key if you want to clear those enemy AI bases full of loot and useful gear. To access it you will first need to get a key and then use it to get inside. The all-new Warzone 2 DMZ mode is a complex beast, full of new systems to learn and while the fundamental gameplay and feel are all similar to Warzone 2, DMZ plays very differently to the battle royale you might be used to – instead of just surviving on the Al Mazrah map, you have to acquire gear and mine with it, which is a lot Easier said than done. We can show you where to find a Stronghold key in DMZ that will give you a head start in this Warzone 2 mode.
How to find a Warzone 2 DMZ Stronghold key
There are several ways to get your hands on a DMZ Stronghold Key, but one method is definitely easier than others – most players have simply stumbled upon it while taking out enemy AI., which works fine, but is inconsistent since the key drops randomly. This method is difficult to use because you will never know if and when an enemy will drop a key, so we recommend an alternative.
In place, you can actually buy Stronghold keys from Buy Stations for $5,000. Keep in mind that Stronghold Keys don’t always spawn at Buy Stations, but this method is more consistent than just relying on a Key to drop from a random AI enemy.
What we recommend is jumping into a game with friends so you’re all on the same page. Then, do your best to take out the AI and loot the interiors of buildings as much as possible. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for safes and cash registers, as these are great sources of money. Also, try to pick up as much trash as you can, like batteries and comic books. Be sure to replace lower cost items with higher value ones to maximize your inventory space as you head to the Buy Station.
Next, you need to know the nearest stronghold – indicated by a castle icon on the map – as well as the nearest Buy Station (hopefully they’re not too far away). Gather your cash, collect the Stronghold Key from the Buy Station, and you’ll be ready for the battle ahead.
A few things to note – you just need a Fortress key to open a fortress. So there is no need to buy more than one. This is important to note, because Stronghold keys work differently than Fortress keys (like a Police Academy key, for example). Specific strongholds require multiple keys to access all areas, while all parts of a stronghold can be opened with a single key.
The problem is that Fortress keys cannot be extracted, so you will need to collect one each time you visit Al Mazrah, which makes things a bit more complicated. Still, once you get into the habit of collecting cash, visiting a Buy Station, and selling your scraps, things will become second nature (much like the process of earning a loadout in the first game. Warzone).
How to Infiltrate a Fortress and Collect White Lotus Information
After acquiring a stronghold key, visit a nearby stronghold and prepare for battle. These battles are tough, as each fortress is filled to the brim with AI enemies. It’s best to come prepared with lots of armor, stuns, or lightning, and plenty of ammo to survive the encounter.
These sections are particularly difficult as the enemies inside often have their own heavy armor, as well as riot shields and powerful weapons. As you slowly clear each room, be on the lookout for gear, as well as the White Lotus Intel item, which ties into one of the DMZ missions. The White Lotus Intel will drop from an enemy, but it’s random, so be sure to check each body as you go. For best results, we recommend searching each enemy’s backpack right after taking them out, as long as it’s safe.
It’s also important to be aware that enemies will continue to pour in from the outside, so try to be aware of the doors you’ve passed through. AI enemies tend to grab players from behind, which is never fun, especially after taking the time to break into the fortress.
Once that’s clear, be sure to grab the White Lotus Intel before heading to the Exfil point. With this, you’ll just want to be careful around other players, as well as AI enemies, as they’ll likely get in your way.
If an Exfil area seems too hot, we recommend choosing another less crowded location so you can mine with White Lotus Intel. With a bit of luck and some coordination, you should be able to get away with it without losing all your gear.
