Hunnes tells us that “things like Fruit Loops, Cocoa Puffs, and Frosted Flakes” are “made with few (if any) whole grains and lots of added sugars,” making them a terrible choice for the breakfast.

Khati agrees, noting that “cereals are one of the highest-sugar foods.” And if you think you’re getting off the hook by choosing cans that seem healthier or are labeled as low-sugar, you might be wrong. “Even cereals that are supposed to be ‘low in sugar’ are actually high in added sweeteners,” she warns.
