Sony and Honda may have a solution for more on-the-go entertainment, a plan that includes integration PlayStation 5 support in future electric cars.
In an interview with the FinancialTimes, president and COO of Sony Honda Mobility, Izumi Kawanishi, said that it is possible to integrate the PS5 into cars. The console and other Sony services are part of a larger vision to create a more entertainment-focused vehicle, competing with other electric models like Tesla.
“Sony has entertainment content, services and technologies that move people. We’re adapting those assets to mobility, and that’s our strength against Tesla,” Kawanishi told the Financial Times.
Sony Honda Mobility CEO Yasuhide Mizuno explained that future hardware will “address the entertainment and networking that we would like to deliver.”
The Financial Times also notes that these new models, slated for launch in 2025, will incorporate entertainment content into the production process.
Sony and Honda established their joint venture earlier this year, and Kawanashi said part of their plan includes advancements in “self-driving”. The COO acknowledged that fully autonomous driving was not there yet and that the technology “would have to evolve significantly” to achieve its vision.
The 10 Best Steam Deck Games
